Luminaria for Relay for Life of Greene County are available now from Relay for Life team members or at the Greene County Community Center.
All luminaria will display this year’s super hero theme that asks “Who’s Your Hero?” Those who purchase luminaria to honor or remember their cancer-fighting hero or a caregiver can decorate the luminaria themselves or have one of the talented luminaria committee members do it.
Luminaria already purchased for the 2018 Relay are on display around the county. They’re at the Rippey Community Center the week of March 11. They’ll be at the courthouse in Jefferson the week of March 18, at Community State Bank the week of March 25, and at Peoples Trust & Savings Bank in Scranton the week of April 1.
They’ll be displayed in the window of the Masonic lodge on the west side of the courthouse square in Jefferson from April 8 until the Relay for Life, April 21.
Relay for Life team members are reminded to put the name of their team on the luminaria order form, as teams will be credited with the sales in their fundraising total.
Order forms can be picked up at the Community Center in Jefferson and returned to the address on the form, or left with the requested donation at the community center.
Angel luminaria, which honor a special caregiver, are also available. Please note “caregiver” on the order form.
“This is a special way to support someone who is fighting cancer, who has beaten cancer, or to remember someone who lost the fight against cancer,” said Shirley Stapleton, Relay for Life luminaria chair.
The Relay for Life of Greene County will take place Saturday, April 21, from 9 am to 2 pm at the community center. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society to provide patient and caregiver services, to fund lifesaving cancer research, and to continue advocacy in the public sector.
